Up to 2010 I had stayed several times in Dubai but not yet in Abu Dhabi and intended to do it as the capital city’s good name had aroused my curiosity.
To reach it from Dubai it takes around 2 hours in case you are travelling not during the peak hour, otherwise you’ll forget this duration and estimate to spend around a doubled time on board of your car or public bus.
Once reached Abu Dhabi, if you’re travelling by bus you can choose to get out of the vehicle at the nearest station with respect of your apartment, as there are several stations throughout Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi resorts
My hotel was just in the city centre. One of the first aspects I noticed was the very low quantity of noise, which is not so obvious if you consider that we are speaking about the capital city of the Arab Emirates. Nevertheless, it is really so.
As for my hotel, I had been expecting a high level of services, but reality went beyond my expectations. My suite was magnificent and also any other service, including restaurants, reception, concierge, club lounge and room service was simply excellent. Beleave me, I am very demanding, but in that case I can say anything but positive comments.
Alongside with my hotel I could visit several other resorts, among them there was also the exclusive Emirates Palace. A must-see (and if your wallet supports you, also a must-stay) top hotel with a breathtaking park surrounding it and also including some greens, sporting fields, swimming pools, waterfalls, and pagodas. A private white beach offers further exclusive luxury.
In addition, I had the opportunity of visiting several other resorts in Abu Dhabi and can just say that the average standard of hospitality both in terms of amenities and services is, say, excellent.
Must see in Abu Dhabi
This Emirate occupies a very ample territory which also includes several other cities such as Al Ain and Al Gharbia. One of the most charming views of Abu Dhabi is its Corniche which stretches on several kilometers. Apart from boasting stunning natural beauty it is also magnificently cared of with a never ending line of trees and flowerbeds alternated with beautiful fountains, cafes, restaurants, seats.
During your next holiday in Abu Dhabi you should absolutely not miss also a day at the Wildlife Centre, a very special place which is home to several endangered wildlife species. Lush vegetation, a magnificent resort and many leisure amenities have absolutely captivated my senses.
These are just a few suggestions of must see places in Abu Dhabi. In my next post I’ll add some other unmissable places, including the more than 200 both natural and man made islands opposite to it.

If its cheap flights you are after, you have almost certainly heard of Easyjet and Ryanair. Even the old stalwart British Airways has been forced to introduce a budget version to fend off the newcomers.
The good thing about this, especially in tough economic times, is that offers travellers some real bargains.
Recently, Ryainair announced a 30% off sale. Let’s stop and think about that for a moment. Taking thirty percent off something that cost very little already has to be insanity, but regardless, the Irish flyers have done exactly that.
Just as a teaser, you can fly to Dublin from Stansted direct for just seven English pounds and it’s no different on the return leg. Sure, you have a plethora of charges, airport tax yes, Ryanair have had some bad press in recent years for adding little charges on to everything and they will probably charge for oxygen on board at some point, but joking aside, it’s still incredibly good value for money.
In fact, it’s so good; the long weekends could be bookended by a nice stay in a hotel without it costing much at all. All you need is to trawl a good comparison site for Stansted Airport Hotels and then do the same for Dublin Airport Hotels Attractive hotels and brilliant spa’s all over airports these days means your ideal weekend break really isnt such a pipe dream after all. With attractive hotels and spa’s close by both airports, it’s not hard to see how having that elusive weekend break can become a reality. You aren’t restricted to Stansted either, with other airports providing excellent Airport Hotels on site too.
Think about that £7 and what you might ordinarily spend it on, it’s not even the cost of chinese take away. Has there ever been a better time to treat you and the better half to a weekend break?. There really isn’t a better time for that weekend break you have been promising yourself for far too long.
